MARCO R WAGNER

Independent artist, solo performance. Country/rock, Country/blues, Roots, Americana. Tourdates BE : from mid June until September. Here's Marco's CV and some reviews.MARCO R WAGNER Grandson of an orchestra director of German descent and son of a Spanish painter and a Brazilian pianist, Marco was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro's 1960's art scene. He had his first booked gig in Spain at 17 and was part of Madrid's art and cultural revival "La Movida". In 1980 he moved to New York and frequented cafés in the city while occasionally visiting Boston’s folk scene. In 1991 he put out "What's Love Remains” on cassette which received great reviews in local magazines. Marco moved to Nashville in the 90’s where he recorded "Poet, Painter & Cowboy" (1994) and shared stage with artists such as Dolly Parton, Jana Stanfield, Julie Gold, ex members of the Byrds, Guess Who, Orleans, New Grass Revival or Wooten Brothers. There he co-founded The Joytoys with whom he published “Come Out and Play!” (1997). Returning to Europe in the new century he set up his band Worlds Collide with whom he published “140 Reasons” (2006) upon landing a deal with Several Records. The album was a candidate for the Spanish Academy of Music Awards in two categories and his acclaimed anti-war single "Democratize" was featured on Neil Young’s website. “My Old Spain” (2014) and "Music Love Magic" (2018) garnished rave reviews in Europe as well as tons of airplay. Both collections of guitar-laced original Americana had stellar collaborations such as Jeff Espinoza (Red House, Lou Marini) and Ramón Arroyo (Los Secretos). In recent years Marco has toured or collaborated with artists such as Sid Griffin (The Long Ryders), Gene Taylor (Canned Heat, The Blasters) or Luthea Salom. *During these difficult months worldwide he’s been honing his observation on what makes us persevere with humility from heartache to heartache (title of one of his new songs), channeling it onto tracks for a new album (“Back to the Plow”) slated to be released in the Spring of 2021. Recording all himself in his home studio during lockdown, a new single comprising three songs will be released by Christmas 2020 and the final collection will close a trilogy with his previous two efforts.* “Fans of Loudon Wainwright III or James Taylor will find their favorite music on this album.” www.rootstime.be (Belgium) “Marco R. Wagner plays a classic folk-rock or, folk music from the old ‘American school’.” Blaskans vänner (Sweden) “’Music Love Magic’, his latest album, is a record made with the love of someone who minds to the extreme his condition as a rooted artist. And in it we find songs such as ‘February’ with a sound that brings to mind an early Gordon Lightfoot (Manolo Fernandez , radio 3 Spain)
